Chapter Six of "The Big Meow" is up for subscribers

Folks, I'm wrecked, so more about this tomorrow: but the new chapter's up for the book's subscribers. (It's a  fairly plump one, at 18,000 words.)

It's in the same directory that Four and Five were in for subscribers, and can be got at using the same username / password pair. The "mailing list" mails about this will be going out tomorrow morning. New subscribers will be going into the database at the same time (thanks to those of you who've been subscribing over the past month!).

More shortly...

Rock! I'd download it now but I'd rather print it out at work tomorrow to have something great to read during lunch.

Thank you!

Yay about the creamy goodness of a new chapter, but oh-dear about the "wrecked." Much hopes for quick recovery, and many many thanks for going through the pain of having to recover and reconstruct the chapter.

I'm having a comprehension problem here. Chapter Six is in the same directory as Chapter Six? You must be wrecked!

Of course Chapter Six is in the same directory as itself, I'd be worried if it wasn't! *g* (I would also like the sorce code to a filing system which allows objects to not be in the same directory as themselves, I suspect that this could result in 100% space saving. I could apply it to my real-space bookshelves and turn them into L-space ones...)

On the other hand, would you like a filing system that, on listing the entries in a directory, listed Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6, Chapter 6, Chapter 6 ...?

Oh, I've written one of those! Really, I have, it's easy to get linked lists to link to themselves. And directories which allow links to their parents can be fun as well (most Unix-like systems allow that, and utilities which don't detect it can get into all sorts of trouble). And then there's the amusing "let's allow spaces anywhere in filenames, including at the end" which can leave users puzzled for ages ("Why do I have three files called FRED?").

That new tiny font size is a killer.
